Know everything about Lab Created Diamonds

Lab created Diamonds are available in a wide spectrum of colors, sizes, and shapes. You pick any piece, and it will reflect the brilliance of art, whether it is heart-shaped, oval, pear, or round. It is challenging to choose one from the array of choices. According to diamond experts, a diamond contributes to the precious moments in life by making it further valuable. Hence, you have to choose it by paying complete attention.

How do they make Fancy Cut Diamonds?

In a diamond manufacturing company, two processes are followed to make Lab gown Fancy Cut Diamonds.

HPHT Process

It is an abbreviation of “High Pressure High Temperature”. It produces cheaper diamonds. To mimic the process that makes diamonds in the Earth’s crust; special machines are used in the lab. The temperature rises as high as 2600 degrees Celsius and high pressure. The exorbitant costs for the process result in producing lucrative and attractive colorless diamonds.

CVD Process

It is “Chemical Vapor Deposition” process. In the CVD process, carbon-rich gases of high purity are stored and controlled in a chamber. They get heated extensively (typically more than 800 degrees Celsius). Thus, the gases break and release carbon atoms. The carbon falls on the basic diamond substrate and accumulates in layers.

After repeating the process for a few weeks, you get rough diamonds.  They need further processing to get converted into Type II diamonds.

Diamond classification

  • Type 1 diamonds: They can have shades of orange, brown, and yellow. The use of nitrogen and blue light during the formation phase are the reason behind these shades.
  • Type 2 diamonds: They have shades of pink, green, blue, or red. The process doesn’t use nitrogen throughout the formation phase.

Lab created diamond companies classify the diamonds and categorize them based on the purity of the color, shape, and clarity.
